Agario Bots provides computer-controlled participants for the popular Agar.io game.

In order to appreciate Agario Bots, one needs to understand what Agar.io is. Agar.io is an online multiplayer game where players essentially play against one another in a Petri dish. A player controls one or more cells and seek to become as big as possible by eating cells—other players—as well as agar. Agar is a jelly-like substance that is used to culture bacteria in labs and gives the game its name.

At first glance, Agar.io and the many .io games derived from it may seem like simple web games. But there is something very compelling about the basic premise, and it has attracted a legion of dedicated players throughout the world. As the game has become more popular and competitive, bots were developed so that cells could get larger and larger and be active longer and longer.

That is where Agario Bots comes in. Agario Bots is an open-source project. That means that you can customize it to your particular purposes. There is also a default compilation of the app that you can download and use at no cost and without restrictions.

There are a number of different ways that Agario Bots can assist you. One way is that it can actually serve as a teammate or multiple teammates. Cells can team up together within the Petri dish, but it is also possible for a large cell to split into multiple smaller cells for strategic purposes. You can take control over a bot on the fly and control reverts back as soon as you relinquish it, and this makes it a lot easier to control a large cluster of cells. Focus where you need to, and let Agario Bots do the rest.

You can even use Agario Bots for you while you’re away from keyboard. You may be surprised at just how effective these bots are at detecting threats, maneuvering the landscape of the Petri dish, targeting and eating appropriate cells and so on and so forth. Of course, this is A.I. is not infallible, and it is possible to return to your screen only to find that you have been eaten!

Note that using Agario Bots may violate the terms of service for the game. You need to check the rules for the server you play on. Some do not allow bots at all. Some ban certain types, such as feeder bots, and then there are servers where anything goes and refining bots may even be the main purpose.

The Agario Bots project may no longer be active or supported. The current release is what it is, and any refinements would have to come through coding by you. It is worth noting that there are many other Agar.io bot projects that are open-source as well but still in active development.
